Multicultural Programs

We believe that everyone deserves to access water safety education, regardless of language, culture or background. We know that Culturally and Linguistically diverse (CALD) communities are at a higher risk of drowning due to a number of factors, including a lack of culturally inclusive water safety programs.

Our team have designed programs which recognise that water safety knowledge, swimming ability, and cultural attitudes toward aquatic environments vary greatly, and we work to bridge these gaps with tailored, accessible, and compassionate program delivery.

What We Do
We partner with community organisations and aquatic facilities to provide:

  • Learn to Swim Programs – Group and private lessons designed for all ages, from beginners to advanced, with culturally sensitive instructors.

  • Culturally Appropriate Water Safety Education – Workshops and information sessions delivered in multiple languages, covering beach safety, pool safety, river safety, and boating safety.

  • Women-Only and Culturally-Sensitive Sessions – Gender-specific programs respecting cultural and religious needs, including closure of aquatic facilities to the public.

  • Lifesaving & CPR Training – Working with program partners to provide ongoing sustainability of water safety skills.

Who We Support

  • Newly arrived migrants and refugees

  • Culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities

  • Families unfamiliar with Australian water environments

  • Community groups seeking culturally safe aquatic education

Why It Matters
People from multicultural backgrounds are statistically over-represented in drowning incidents in Australia, often due to limited swimming ability, lack of exposure to aquatic environments, and language barriers. Our programs directly address these risks, helping participants stay safe, enjoy water activities, and connect socially.

Get Involved
Whether you’re a participant, community leader, or organisation, we welcome collaboration to make our waterways safer for everyone.
